Maurizio Sarri makes admission about Eden Hazard's future

Maurizio Sarri has admitted there is little he can do to convince Eden Hazard to stay at Chelsea next season as speculation over a summer move to Real Madrid continues to grow.

Hazard scored Chelsea's winning penalty in their Europa League semi-final win over Eintracht Frankfurt on Thursday in what many believe will be his last appearance at Stamford Bridge.

He also gave his shirt to a fan in the crowd after the win to further fuel rumours that he is bound for the Bernabeu.

His manager Sarri has admitted that he is powerless to stop the 28-year-old moving on if it is what the player desires.

Sarri said: “If Hazard is thinking that the history here is finished, then in his mind it is finished. I can try to speak to him but it is not easy.

“It’s not easy because of course, I want Hazard, but I want Hazard with a very high level of motivation.”

Hazard has undoubtedly been Chelsea's player of the season and has almost single-handedly dragged them into third place and a Europa League final, scoring 19 goals in 50 appearances in all competitions so far this campaign.

But Sarri does not appear confident of managing to keep the fans' favourite at the Bridge.

He added: “It’s a discussion between a father and a son. I can only speak to the player but like a father, not like a manager. I am not in control of the market.”

Hazard has been at Chelsea since 2012, during which time he has won two Premier League titles, an FA Cup, a League Cup and a Europa League.
